Let the E-Reader Price Wars Begin!
Posted by staffwriter in Tech News
Have you been wanting an E-Reader for quite some time, but just haven’t found one for the right price? Well, the time to buy may be now!
On Monday, Barns&Noble dropped the price of their E-Reader (Electronic Reader), the Nook 3G, down to $199, from $269. Barnes & Noble also released a Wifi-only version of the Nook, priced at $150. Shortly after the price drop from Barnes & Noble, Amazon dropped the price of their E-Reader, the Kindle, to $189, a whole $10 less than Barns&Noble.
E-Readers, or Electronic Readers, are small, portable devices made for usually one purpose – on-the-go reading. They let you carry dozens or even hundreds of books around at all times in one device. Typical battery life is anywhere from 4 to 8 or more hours, depending on the device. E-readers are anything new – the earliest models date back a dozen years to 1998, and modern E-readers (Those that use E-ink, a way to display text without having to deal with back-lit screens and glare) started to show up around 2004. Many E-readers on the market nowadays offer wifi or even internet connectivity, allowing you to add books without your regular computer.
If you’re an avid reader or just want a better way to carry your summer reading, the time to buy an e-reader may be now.
